Another year, another blog, right? Well, this one is going to be a little different. Whereas previous blogs were meant for self-discovery and the like, this one will be more of a letter to family and friends to let you know what's been going on with our little family out here on the islands. You know how people write those long "what happened this year" letters that are sent out on Christmas? Well, since I'm more likely to blog than write a letter (I AM working on that), I figured this would work out a little better for me if I want to update anyone of anything.
And that brings me to today. The day that Audrey had been waiting for for about a month, if not longer. Imagination Movers day. Audrey got their CD not long after she and I got back from our summer trip to the mainland. Since then, she had been playing the cd over and over, dancing around in her room. She didn't even start watching the show until after she started listening to their music. Anyhow, when I found out they were coming out to Hawaii, I had to get her tickets to see them. Today was the day of the concert. And we almost missed it.
Since it had been a month since we got the tickets, Chris and I kind of forgot what time the show was going to be. For some reason, he and I both thought the show was at two o'clock. So yesterday, we told Audrey that we'd be seeing the Movers at two o'clock today. We had it all planned out. She was so excited, she was up early this morning, WATCHING the clock as soon as she woke up. While she was having breakfast, I decided to take a look at a little parenting magazine that I picked up yesterday. I don't know WHY I did it, but luckily, I decided to read the little blurb mentioning today's concert-- how there were TWO shows today, one at eleven and one at two. So I decided to take a look at the tickets, certain that we had tickets for the two o'clock show. Ooops! Eleven o'clock. Good thing I looked early enough. We would've had one very disappointed little girl had we shown up three hours late to the show.
Audrey had a blast. She was up on her feet, bouncing and dancing while the guys played the songs she recognized. She followed along with Nina and the Pas de Deux dancers as they did the hula, and did her own version of the chicken dance on a couple of songs. (I really need to take a serious look at putting her in dance class-- she enjoys it so much). Despite losing whatever little "street cred" we might have had, I have to say that Chris and I also enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. I don't recall the last time I'd seen Chris shake his groove thang so much =) If only I remembered how to use the video recorder on the point-and-shoot. Oh well. Maybe next time.
